Matthew Royal 

For over a decade, Matthew Royal has been at the forefront of property finance and development as the co-founder of Development Finance Partners (DFP). Through his work at DFP, he has played a pivotal role in structuring and securing finance for major residential and commercial property developments across Australia. He has worked closely with developers, lenders, and investors—gaining an insider’s perspective on the intricate workings of the property and finance industries.

But amidst these large-scale projects, Matthew noticed a glaring gap—while developers had access to expert advisors, financial strategists, and structured funding solutions, first-home buyers were often left to navigate the property market alone. The stakes were high, the process complex, and many buyers ended up making costly mistakes, securing the wrong loans, or purchasing homes that didn’t align with their long-term financial goals.

This realization sparked the idea for First Home Buyer Advisors (FHBA)—an independent advisory service dedicated to helping first-home buyers make informed, confident, and financially sound decisions. Drawing on his deep expertise in property finance, risk assessment, and deal structuring, Matthew founded FHBA to level the playing field, giving first-home buyers access to unbiased, expert guidance typically reserved for large-scale investors and developers.

His mission? To demystify the home-buying process, protect buyers from predatory lending and poor financial decisions, and ensure that first-time purchasers enter the market with the same level of strategic insight as seasoned property investors.
